Healthcare

An estimated 11,415 residents of Douglas County have no health insurance at all, and many more have health insurance but can’t afford high premiums and copayments. [US News]

Healthcare is a human right, and A.J. will fight to ensure all Kansans get the care they need. A.J. will fight to expand Medicaid. An estimated 3,756 Douglas County adults would be eligible for Medicaid if expanded in 2017. [KHI]

But we must go beyond the status quo, which leaves too many Kansans behind. We need major investments in community health care centers, expansion of covered mental health and addiction treatment, and to fight corporate pharmaceutical giants who put profits ahead of patients. Once Kansas Expands Medicaid, A.J. will immediately start working toward Medicare for All legislation.
