A.J. Stevens was honored to receive the Economic Engine of the Year Award at this year's award banquet. In 2018, A.J. was hired by Midland Railway as their first Chief Executive Officer. Stevens first move was to bring The Polar Express Train Ride to Baldwin City. Over 25,000 people, from 38 states, traveled to Baldwin City to ride the event In it's inaugural run. The event's economic impact for Baldwin City was over $3 Million during the seven weeks in November and December. Midland Railway is a not-for-profit heritage railroad. In his first year, A.J. increased the organizations annual revenue from $500,000 to $2.1 Million. The increased revenue created over 120 seasonal jobs for local residents and allowed for several upgrades to the railroad including the addition of two new locomotives and a dozen new passenger cars.
